How to Cook Cameroonian Peanut Butter Soup

Here is the authentic recipe to make the infamous peanut butter soup easy if you live abraod. Impress you friends form Cameroon with this simple recipe.

Ingredients:

  • Peanut butter (no salt added, no sugar added, no preservatives, no additives)
  • Meat or fish
  • Onion,  pepper, seasoning*, salt, maggi
  • Vegetable oil

    Tips:

    1) For a successful result, it is important that the peanut butter has nosalt added, no sugar added, no preservatives, no additives. Organic peaunut butter is ussually great too.
    2) Any muli purpose seosoning will do. I like to add a bit of rosemay and thyme too.


Method:

  • Wash the meat put it in a container
  • Season it with onion, maggi, salt, seasoning, and some vegetable oil
  • Place the mixture in a pot and add enough water to cook the meat
  • While the meat is cooking measure the peanut butter and put it in a bowl
  • Use tepid water to dilute the peanut butter using a batter or a spoon
  • Dilute from butter form to creamy or smooth paste (we don't wat it watery)
  • Once the meat is well cooked
  • Add the peanut cream to the pot
  • Let cook, stir, taste for salt 
  • The resulting soup should be creamy and sumptuous

If you decide to have fish instead...............................................

  • Cook, bake, or fried your frish
  • In a separate pot, brown onions in a bit of vegetable oil
  • Add some water to the quantity you wish your soup to be
  • Add maggi, salt and sesonning. Let it boil
  • Use tepid water to dilute the peanut butter
  • Using a batter or a spoon, dilute to get creamy or smooth paste
  • Add the peanut cream to the pot
  • Let cook, stir, taste for salt
  • Finally add you fish
  • The resulting soup should be creamy and sumptuous 


The soup might not feel heavy or creamy right away, let it and and cool off

Eat with sweet potato, fufu, rice, red plantains, yams, gari..
